stolen faceplate

ok a few days sum little s**t broke into my car and stole my faceplate from my sony head unit, i think it was kids because they didnt take the whole thing and my sub and that was still in the boot.

is there any way i can get a replacement faceplate, as im sure i will never see the original ever again.

Yeah mate go back to the place you bought it.....if you got it with the car and dont have a purchase receipt you can try your luck at a Sony dealer. They may be a little cautious though.

cheers guys, i emailed sonys spare parts department hopefully they can help me out, im guessing thats was jb hifi would do cos i dont think they buy faceplates seperatly.

ok i got a reply from sony they can get me one for $179 + $8postage, that seems much as the unit as a whole only cost me $280 its a CDX-GT760 hmm u guys reakon thats a rip?

p.s. if u knew who stole ur shit but wasnt 100% sure would u still go to there house and confront them?

I think you should just get a new H/U, maybe even a second hand one because thats a ripoff for a face plate.

Its really not worth going after who you 'think' might have done it. Unless they actually have it in their possession you are the only one that will end up in trouble..

Did you still have the reciept? I don't want to believe it but i'm sure there are people wondering "is this guy really a crook who pinched one without a face....."

In terms of possibly knowing who took it - police. Why wouldn't you report it? I assume you made a report as soon as it was nicked and now you go back and tell the police you have some idea that someone you know has it. Will need some pretty good reasons for blaming someone though.

Um, maybe try keeping an eye out on GraysOnline. They are a certified "Sony seconds" dealer. Normally the "Reconditioned" stuff is just boxes that are crap or there has been something tiny wrong (e.g. in a head unit the part that would modtly go wrong is the big unit anyways).

Not trying to be a smart arse, but this is exactly why detech faces were created... You're meant to take it off so no one wants to steal your shit.

You could look around for your model head unit for sale in different places as it will probably be cheaper to buy the whole head unit second hand than a new face.

Yer I remove my face plate everytime I park the car, takes like an extra 5 seconds but aint takin any chance's.

And I woudn't go after them as they'll probably hit you car again and do some major damage.

Bad luck that it got stolen though mate, hopefully you can find it for cheap somewhere.

yea i enquired about insurance and the excess was gona be $500 so stuff that, and yes i still have the receipt (and original box too) so im not that dodgy guy lol.

so far i can only find a new one for $179 i dont even no if its brand new or not but its from sonys repair/spare parts department so i no its legit, i guess ill continue my search for another week see how i go
