Hi i am a bit of a car audio noob.Anyway i have a 4 channel amp, however my stereo only has one preout so i have the RCA leads running to the rear channel of my amp running a 10" sub using a bridged setup.I also want to power a set of 6" speakers from the amp and i am wondering if i just wire them up to the rear channel as well with the sub or do i need an adapter or something.Thanks....
So you have two inputs on your amp? one for front channels, one for rear??
Simplest way I can come up with is a set RCA splitters, you can find them at basically most electronic shops, or JB hifi, strathfield car radios, etc.. etc..
You will need the single 'female' end - to double 'male' end type ones, if you cant find them on the shelf, just ask one of the store assistants, they should know what your talking about..
Then just plug the RCA cables into them,
one for the red - put these two into both the red terminals on your amp, and
one for white - put these two into both the white terminals on your amp..
and should be sweet..
Hope that answers your question mate...
Thanks Mate....
I just did my brothers corolla, he had a head deck there with 2 rca outs (just 2 channels, L+R) and i wanted to run a 4 channel and 2 subs off it.
All i did was make up 2 leads, one for left and right, so it went from a Female RCA to 3x Male RCAs.
I havent seen those in car audio shops, just one with 2 outs, not 3.
I could always make you up one, if u can't find them in the shops.
Nah, yeah your right, ive only seen them in two's..
RE-reading the OP, im not 100% sure on if he wants to run all the speakers off the one amp, or get another amp?..
Originally, I took it as run the sub bridged - over two channels, and then a left and right speaker off the other two channels? maybe.. lol,
Thanks for all your help guys.I solved the problem by taking a trip to Jaycar.I only needed one female to 2 male rca leads so that i could leave my sub on the rear channel bridged and run 2 speakers off the front channel. You just gotta love this forum for all the help and advice thanks.....
Haha sweet as mate... Its good when you can solve problem like that, cheap and easy..
With the amount of guys and girls! on here, I would assume that everyone has tried everything at one time or another.. Just ask, most people are pretty good on here, IMO its a great forum too!!
Just glad to help mate,
Does it sound alright?
Just FYI, some amps (like my JL 300/4) have a switch to let you use a single set of preamp outs for all 4 channels (or 2 sets if you have them)
