    Default Subwoofer fault

hey guys and girls i have a question about my sub woofer, this may be something you have had happen or know what to do.

Every time i turn on my head unit to listen to music my subs go THUMP!!
and i have tried quickly turning down the volume but it still does it.

does anyone know what i may need to do like a capacitor or resistor to absorb that unwanted surge of power or something.

if anyone knows what to do that would be great thanks guys.

You'll have to give us more info on the system, what components etc.

Could be a few things, is the remote wire for the amp connected to the remote (blue wire) on the head-unit?

This problem is usually caused by the amps turning on before the h/u, this can usually be fixed by the following solutions:

    1. Put a switch inline of the remote wire (blue blue/white) so that you can manually turn on the amps each time

    2. Get a decent h/u that does this automatically, it doesnt turn on the amp for about a second after the h/u has turned on. (all alpine h/u's iv'e owned have done this)

    3. Go to jaycar and get kit that does it, its around $15 and goes inline teh remote wire and just holds of the power for a couple seconds and is adjustable which is always good..

Anyone of these should fix you problem.

    cheers,
    smit

go with number 1 or 3 your right its just a surge of current just get a switch and it should be fine.
