Odds are you're going to have to cut the thing in the first picture in half. The wires coming out of the big plug connect to the ones that connect to your new headunit. The two little ones are for plugging into stereos that have that plug, but your's doesn't, it just has bare wires, so cut them off. The big plug itself plugs into your cars stock head unit plug. The colours should match, if I remember correctly from my mums VT. If not, this table should help. It should say which wires which on the headunits wiring (the thing in the second picture).

The third thing is for your antenna, which I'm pretty sure you won't need at all because that's what the antenna plug looks like on my mums VT, my stepdads 90 rodeo and my 82 VH, I daresay they didn't change it for the VX.

Yep, the aerial plug is the same as the VT, the plug on the back of the VX unit has a small plastic tag you need to push in before it'll come out, you cant just yank it out. And you can get that adaptor lead with a VX plug on it so you wont have to change any wiring at all. Go back to Autobarn and get the right part.

    ps. Wow !! $12.99 for a euro aerial adaptor .... I think I'm going into retailing !!

Check the cradle unit that nothings bent and also you have plenty of room at the rear, other words push your wires to the side of the cradle, it needs a firm push to lock it all into place.

A firm push is required, but don't get heavy handed with it, if it doesn't move somethings in the way

Not sure what you mean, but did you get a surround for the unit as this covers your gaps around the head unit

That metal thing won't go in. Unfortunately you're going to have to take all the trim surrounding the head unit off so you can get to the sides of the metal cage that the HU sits in, and drill holes in it where the head unit is meant to go.

Did your headunit come with a little rubber knob thing? Attach that to the back of the headunit and you can push the HU hard up against the back of the metal cage, it's to help locate the HU in the right spot.

Also, the little pocket thing that sits under the HU will probably take some modification to fit it properly. There's a few little tabs that have to be cut out and you need to wrap some tape around the outside of it where the clips are to make it stay in place properly.
