Hi,
I am trying to do a custom install of a set of 6.5" Speakers with grills. The grills have LED lights inside which makes them a little thicker than standard speaker grills.
I am using a spacer to raise the speaker to the height where the factory Grill used to be and I am lining the hole where it used to be with a black rubber vinyl.
Rough diagram of finished setup
There is one problem with this installation - the pocket inside the door (pictured and highlighted in red) is obstructing this installation.
Note: speaker is only sitting loose inside door for demonstration purposes
Any ideas/help with this setup?
Cut it and sand it til its smooth and round, thats the only advice i could give.
Would these Aerpro spacer fit into my configuration after trimming the pockets?
I know they are only 6" so I'll just have to widen the holes for the speakers to fit.
I seriously doubt those pockets will fit, just look at the "pointy" ends of them pods, thats gunna cause all sorts of issues.
Youre better off trying your luck with some fibreglassing, you really have nothing to loose trying to glass a custom cover up.
Wats it actually obstructing? can u not mount the new spacer in properly? or does the door skin not fit on properly? or is it just purly looks u dont like how the pocket covers the speaker?? is a grill goin back over the top or r u havin the speaker exposed?

what brand are these speakers, they look very cheap, if their cheapo's, then their probably no better than the stock ones, and not worth your effort, seriously..Why butcher your ride to get a set of 20 buck speakers in there??
