Exclamation Is this amp worth it - or not worth my trouble?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if this amplifier (so called "Speaker City" brand) is worth the money?

Sounds too good to be true. Also sounds dodgy to me. I just need it for my budget car stereo system to power my 12" Kenwood sub. Anybody used one or know someone who has one, let me know how they go.

what kenwood sub is it? personally i wouldnt waste the money on that. another $50-100 and you will get a monoblock amp that will work better and most likely be more suited to the sub.

that amp doesnt give rms ratings, which is what you need really, to find a suitable amp. dont bother with the max power ratings.

HAHA its a 5amp amplifier. LOL 5 thats shit all. And yeah hakhawk's right there are no real indications of its power output. Not to mention the signal-to-noise ratio is dodgy.

If you want a cheap amp to power your kenwood 12" than get a Pioneer GM3300T:
Ryda Car Audio - Pioneer Car Audio GM-3300T Car Amplifier($93.95)

You can go into nearly any store like WOW or JB Hi-Fi or the like and get it for roughly the same price. Would be a lot better option and probably has more power then the one you are looking at.

5 amps at 12V equals 60 watts PEAK!!! Thats 15watts per channel. Your H/U most likely puts out 50watts per channel.

When you add freight into the price its going to be around the $200 mark. $200 at JB Hi-Fi or WOW or Strathfield, etc, is going to get you a much better amp.

    $125 for 240wrms isn't that bad.

The power acoustic will be crap, and unless you have a store to take it back for warranty I wouldn't bother. But it's $100...

I'd personally rather buy a second hand amp of good quality.
