ok...so i bought a clarion DVD HU today and got it installed.....but....the only thing is ....it seems to be not as loud as my sony HU....my question is.....when i amp my speakers.....will the overall volume get louder??
by the way im going an all rockford system......but atm i only have sony's all round
with an amp installed you can play around with the gain setting to get an overall louder system. If its going to distort at that volume is another question
why is your profile icon a picture of an S14......??
i got a 4 channel amp for ur speakers if u want to buy it?it will make ur speakers sounds much better.
You can use an amp on your speakers but if you exceed the power rating of the speakers you will burn out the voice coils. This is easy achieved with a high power amp.
I disagree, i think its MUCH easier to burn voice coils by underpowering them.....this has been discussed in detail before but basically when you underpower and pair of speakers/subwoofer its easier to feed the speakers a clipped (distorted) signal by cranking up the volume and/or gain control. This is what destroys voice coils.....clipping.
Anyway back on topic......to the OP's question, basically yes they will sound much better when amped off an external GOOD quality amplifier, provided it is installed and tuned properly.
