    Default Pioneer DEH-3100UB

    Is the new pioneer DEH-3100UB head unit any good looking at buying for $282.

    It's fairly new, I doubt you'll find anyone who actually owns one. But usually the improvement from the previous models is minor. Looks good with USB, direct iPod connection and 3 sets of RCAs though.

    No it's crap.

    New Pioneer decks are crap. They are 100db SnR and the output quality is rubbish. I just bought a P4050UB for $300 and it was horrible, I sold it. The $300 Alpine units are the way to go. Three pre-outs and MP3 what more could you want... otherwise go Eclipse. Only two headunits I would get. Now I run a Creative 7.1 soundcard at >108db SnR and car pc for all my installs, nothing beats it for quality.

    WOuld love to know what sort of Car PC/setup you use for this application.

    I have the 3000IB model and I couldn't be happier. Sounds great. If you get it, do take the time to play around with the settings to achieve optimum sound.

    amen...I got the Alpine iDA-X200, absolutely super headunit...the iDA-X300 is even better though....but bang for bucks...Alpine is pure quality...Highly reccomend them over Pioneer or any of the others...

    What don't you like about them?
    Jeremy Clarkson.....Speed doesn't kill....stopping suddenly from speed, that's what gets you.

    lolz epic win. I know from experience that the unit's aren't 'crap' though. there pretty solid unit's.
