hey guys n gurls...was wondering if one was so inclined to listen in on police frequencies..what frequency/ channel would he tune into on UHF..this is in Qld...im not sure whether they have gone digital like vic have..
you cant pick it up on a normal uhf mate...
also highly illegal :P
Yep, wont pick it up on a normal UHF radio, will need a radio scanner within the right frequency range.
Vic isnt digital either, well atleast not in rural areas.
But I dont think anyone will post up the frequency for you mate, doesnt look good for the forum, and it is illegal to have a scanner programmed to it from what I've told.
get a bearcat scanner and scan 75000-80000 and 150000-200000 youll find it

dont know about over there but its fully legal to listen here as long as you dont use it for criminal gains or to help anyone avoid arrest etc

Not sure about other states but nothing illegal about it here (vic).
Seems to be a common misconception though.
Its completely legal. Though vic HAS gone digital, quite a while back. I bought a scanner a few years ago then a month later they went digital. Waste of $300 lol. I live in the sticks too btw so defiantly no go without a digital scanner. My uncle warned me it would happen but me being ignorant I bought one anyway. (hes right into this stuff and has a HUGE HF aerial on his shed supported by numerous cables
)
portable phones are better to listen too anyway LOL

yeah easy as to find the phone just scanning portable frequencies you need 2 the trans and recieve normally not very far apart and you just scan the two

the portable sends and recieves on 2 frequencies so you need to scan both or you only hear half of the conversation either in or out

Why would you want to listen in on the fuzz anyway?
its bloody funny listening to the police the amount of silly things they do and cockups they make.over here we were cracking up at the amount of cops who couldnt fuel up when they got the VE's cause the fuel flap locks with the car and they couldnt get it open there they were on open radio asking what the go was.and its fun when they loose someone or are tracking people with dogs all good listening, especially when they are donut eating ones puffing like hell after running after people.then theres the crashes they are funny

Mine just has to be different lol. It has transmit and receive on the same frequency, then a separate transmit frequency. Its an old-ish uniden phone.
As far as I know, and Im into radios/scanning, All Citys are Encrypted Apco 25 digital networks (in english - Their all "Digital") (un encrypted digital networks can be scanned with a digital scanner compatable with the network your trying to scan - but all the police ones are encrypted.) the country stuff is all analouge, so it can still be scanned - There are 468mhz networks and a few VHF networks around the country. if you want to listen to somthing because your bored, listen to transit security/transit police if their not digital. or if you wanna know where the cops are, then try listening to the fire brigade as they often say if the police are in the area of a fire their attending. no where near as good as pre-digital but its better than f**k all
Queensland Police UHF Frequencies
here ya go mate uhf qld police freq's
my old man used to use his scanner all the time... and call me up to ask why i had been pulled over![]()
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
its completly legal to have it n listen it is highly illegal to transmit on these freq's and if u get pulled over with it on in the car and they test it and its able to transmit on these channels then ur stuffed where you have actually been tramsmitting.
it has to be disabled completly
i use to have one over here in wa great fun beats the radio anyday haha
haha maybe i should get one then coz my sl/e doesnt have a radio![]()
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
yeh just get a decent one 25wats etc so it got decent range
i only had an icom ic400 pro with a tiny little antenna fixed to the glass and even that got good reception....
and with that one you can have the police scanner aswell as 40ch cb too, handy if ur in busy areas ask some truckers to let you in etc haha
I'm pretty damn sure that QLD has already gone digital. So no good.
