Hey guys, was just wondering if an amp is capable of 2/4 ohm, how do you switch it? Or will it automatically run 2ohm if it can? What will happen if i run 2ohm into a 4ohm sub? Any help would be great with this guys. Thanks
You cant "switch" an amp to run on a particular impedance. Basically you just "present" a certain load to an amplifier. Most amplifiers (be it 2ch, 4ch, or a monoblock) will run at 2 ohm impedance.

its all about the way ya wire subs up
if ya use 1 x 4ohm sub its a 4 ohm load
if ya bridge the amp it goes to 2 ohms
now depending on if ya parallel or series you'll get different ohms
if ya have no idea stop and go to a professional
"if ya bridge the amp it goes into 2 ohms"
Please explain?
150db in a commodore =
depends on amp
some go 2 ohm and some go 2 ohm stable
depends if ya use 4ohm sub or even 8 ohm sub
depends on how ya wire it
like i said if he doesn't know to much he should seek professional advice
If you bridge an amp it dosent just "go" into 2 ohms. I think what youre meaning to say is most amps are 2 ohm stable when not bridged, but when you bridge the channels (of a 2/4 ch. amp) alot of amps arent 2 ohm stable.
Anyway the point is you cant just switch an amp to run at a certain impedance, the thing that determines what impedance an amp runs at is the speaker/subwoofer.
