Hi, I'm using some Menzerna Intensive Polish PO85RD3 to remove random swirls (from a previous persons idiot buffing) and some Sealing Wax AP060 to finish but I have previously been using Turtle Wax Polish which is synthetic Silicone based. Should I use some Wax and Grease remover or something to remove the Silicone to get the best out of the Menzerna? Or will the Intensive Polish be removing it?
Thanks.
Just use an All purpose cleaner to wash the car with this will take off the wax/polish. Also Menz PO85RD3 is pretty harsh polish and may leave maring on your car. if they are slight swirls P085RDFF may be better
VicVXBerlina's advice is good. When we are polishing a car, we will give it a decontamination wash with a diluted All Purpose Cleaner first which will remove any old wax/sealant residue. This is an important step as it will remove any fillers which may be hiding swirls or deeper scratches and allows you to asses the paint condition before you attack the job.
Are you hand or machine polishing? I’m guessing you bought this off ebay?
It is always advised to clay bar before polishing, this insures you are working on a contaminant free surface.
The Intensive polish can be a bit aggressive for single stage polishing. Menzerna Final Finish Hi-cut (106FF) is better suited to a single stage polish. If you are using the Intensive, you may need to use something like Final Finish Hi-Gloss to bring out a bit more of the shine in the paint before sealing.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't used any fillers and I think the Polish removed most of it anyway. I used my Dewalt Orbital and I think I might take your advice and try the 106FF now after using the PO85RD3 to remove most of the swirls even though it looks pretty good going straight to the APO60. I need something a little aggressive in which this is why I used the PO85RD3. As VicVXBerlina stated that it may be a bit too aggressive, I really needed something that would cut and not just do light on stuff. I think this is good enough and seems to be doing the job safely enough on hard 2pac for what these random swirls are compared to the other more aggressive polishes on the market. It just takes alot longer with a DA rather than a RO.
Bloody idiots that let the compund dry on a old wool pad! Should be hung unil dead. grrrr![]()
I feel you paint mate, we have had to detail many cars with similar damage. It's such a shame to this sort of paint damage on new cars!
You will be fine using The Intensive polish but it is not a 'glossing' polish so you will notice a big uplift in the gloss and shine of the paint if you follow it with something like Final Finish Hi-Gloss. Although it is another step, it is a lot easier to do it now.

Thanks mate. Isn't the Intensive Polish rated a 3.5 shine and the Sealer Wax 5.0 shine but you say I will get even more shine? Would I be able to use the Final Finish Hi-Gloss now that I've already put that Sealing Wax and Polish APO60 on?
