Default Dealer fusion protection or not

I have ordered a new 2010 VE SSV Sporty from the dealer up here in Darwin and have planned to get the dealer option of Fushion Paint and Interior Leather Pack.
Can someone let me know if this is a good idea/product, or should i go with aftermarket options instead. Cost is around $1700 for this pack.

All I will say is dont do it. Read the contract as you will have to follow very hard rules to not void its warranty. it will also have that you will need a top up after 12 months costing you more money. You will get the same if you spent $200 on a good sealant and equipment. My advise get a good detailer to do your car and save a grand.

Sound advise, thanks i will look into warranty conditions fine print etc.. Has anyone heard of or used this product. I can't even find it on the web. Mate got a suzi swift for his wife and they had the same line. He opted out as they wanted 2.5k almost 10% of the vehicle price.

Thought i'd wrap this up. Sorry to do this in a sponsor section, my bads. Anyway, got the warranty info and alls good. Lifetime warranty, no re-application, only ongoing cost is their car wash which is about 20 bucks (lasts about 3-4 months washing once a week), covers everything inside/out, can't cut/polish all i can do is wash. Warranty is straight forward; if a bat etc... shits on it, as long as i wash it of as soon as i can, they will fix if it affects paint finish. So i'm going ahead with it! Can't hurt.

You do exactly the same with a $30 sealant and you will get the same results. I suppose its your money. "(lasts about 3-4 months washing once a week)" Is this saying that it only lasts 4 months, then what? you have to re apply it? So washing it once a week at their wash another $1040 bugger that. sorry mate they have got you.

VicVX, i meant the car wash will last about that long depending on wash frequency and the protection application is a once off with lifetie warranty (on new car). I reckon your'e right, i probably could get an off the shelf product and apply myself, but i don't care too much for waxing/polishing in the NT humidity . More than likely, being a dealership option they are ripping me off, but as soon as this car is not gleaming, i'll be taking it back under their warranty. Anyhow i'll give it a go and reporft in a year or two how it went!

Hey Mungus, I have just bought last week a VE Calais and heavily researhec these optroions. The stuff the Holden Dealer is &^*&. They spoke to me about Titanium Oxide being the ducks nuts. I have basic chemsitry so I asked them how it bonded etc. Wrong Question! The is no "sparkle" warranty. Surely their are some good car detalers up there. The synetuiuc selaers they use shall be far superiuor.

    Hi Mungus,

Like the other guys have said you are wasting $1,700 (and the dealership are making $1,600 profit) and I really want to see you get anything out of the dealership when it does not 'gleam' any more - we hear from 20+ guys a month that have had bad experiences and now want to fix or protect the car properly themselves.

We have products from all around the world, some developed just within the last 12 months and keep up on industry trends - there is simply not a product that will last a lifetime, not even 3-5 years.

Someone only usually buys Paint 'Protection' once and then figures it out - my personal advice; listen to the others that know better or have learnt from their mistakes.

Sorry for the honesty, just hoping to save you and any others money.

That is exactly right I got sucked into this when I bought my VY Clubby back in 03. Never ever again.

The roof had a chalky look after about 6 months. I just gave the car a cut and polish to bring the duco back to life.

    Hi Mungas

I have just purchased a VE international - I too was offered this protection package - it seems to be okay at this stage. I did a lot of reasearch and most other paint protection you need to reapply as it was just a polish form - this you never have to do anything again - you also get a little pack inc car wash, leather cleaner etc - I ended up paying $995.00 - this was fleet cars price for the paint and internal package - hit them up for a good price and I would def inately go ahead and do it - it does put a nice protectioon over the paint - rgds burg

I do it for customers that tick the "paint protection" box. Its really for people who simply hate money
