    Default Wheel Cleaning

    Just went to Ripco;

    Got talking about car cleaning products, particularly rim cleaners. Im a big fan of Maguiars wheel cleaner, which does real well.. Got told to test out a bottle of Sonax which is supposedly better, cheaper priced. Picked up a bottle.. Anyone got a better suggestion (general road grit, tire shine and brake dust)?

    Obviously im talking a situation where I can get products in a retail sense, or mix some ingredients into a spray bottle

    What about bug and tar remover, that cleans wheels pretty well. Has anyone else tried it?

    well i still use soap and water. But if there is a really bad mark left on the wheel then comes the bug and tar remover.

    A new thought for you - has anyone tried a professional wheel/rim sealant?

    Just like your paintwork, if you seal them (high tech synthetic wax) then it makes cleaning 10 times easier. You can generally pressure wash 95% of the dirt and brake dust off without scrubbing and wipe off any remaining.

    Somthing like this works on most styles of alloy rim - Car Care Products / Nanolex / Exterior / Wheel Sealant / Alloy Rim Sealant Kit

    I was recommended by my local Repco to try Sonax solution. Exactly the same concept as the McGuires products etc.. difference is, when the agents in the solution start atacking the grease/grit etc, the solution turns purple, the darker the purple, the more its working, simple hose off and badaboom.

    A mate of mine made me polish on the rim sealant from Auto Glym and it didnt deter it as much, but the cleaning became a hell of a lot easier.
