    Default Clear Coat.

Just curious if you can reapply the clear coat. Removing swirl marks and spider webbing via clay bar and various other products seems to be the only way.

This maybe considered a stupid question but thought I might ask.

    Hi Mate,
I'm not a spray painter, but have a bit of experience with coatings. The clear coat is simply a clear layer of paint over the colour coat. (usually not so simply because it has a lot of components in it to protect the underlying colour from the sun and elements) I can't see why you couldn't have another layer of clear coat applied over, but it's probly going to cast the same price as a regular respray, and If the original clear coat was worn through anywhere, I would want to get the colour coat done as well to ensure that no areas fade at different rates. Like I said, I'm not an expert, but thats how i would deal with it.
    Ben.

    Hi Riche,

I do not quite understand your question. Clear Coat is normally applied in the factory over the colour and likewise if a car goes into a body/panel shop for repair they normally remove paint and then re-prime / colour and clear.

Removing swirls marks and spider webs are achieved by polishing (usually with a machine) and only usually affect the upper 1-3 microns of the clear, so generally "paint" can be re-finished, to look like new, and remove these without the need for re-clearing or re-painting.

More likely for a touchup,as you can respray it clear but will show as a patch.need to rub back primed and add colour to the clear then top coat clear for a better finish blow in
