Unhappy looking for 5 inch pads

Looked through your site and can only find 4, 6 and 8 inch pads, can a 6 inch fit to 5? also some are velcro attached can you buy a plate for a normal one to use these or only factory ones have this attahment type. mines a random orbital BTW.

also what pad (s) and polish combo would you reccommend for light scratches and light oxidisation on red paint whilst retaining the clear coat, and when you say holograms imperfections what are these?

if you could clear this up for me it would be great.

P.S I have bought some things from your store already and the post was fast, great work.

The most common sizes of pads are 4, 6 or 8"

Generally you would use a 5" backing plate with a 6" foam pad, so that the plate is recessed slightly. Likewise you would use a 6" backing plate if you were using 6.5" pads.

Most pads work on the velcro system (pads have loops) and stick to the backing plate (plates have hooks)
Backing plates are available to put on a number of polishers, usually rotary polishers have an M14 thread and RO polishers have a 5/16" thread, if yours has this then we have 3" 5" and 6" backing plates to suit.

It is hard to say an exact combination that will work on your paint, as it depends on the paint type, depth and condition. A good bet would be the Menzerna Sampler Kit which provides a number of levels of polish. Combine this with a couple of pads maybe Green and Blue Edge Pads and you should have the right tools for the job.

Holograms are a paint defect and can appear in a couple of different ways. They are sometimes left behind from buffing and can only usually be seen in direct sunllight, hard to see in overcast conditions. Sometimes they look like clouds in the paint providing a hazey effect that cannot be wiped off.

I hope this helps and if you need more info feel free to call, email or PM

    Cheers,
    Mike
