    Default Mechanic hand marks?

Hey just wondering what the best way to get those big ugly hand prints all over your bonnet after a trip to the mechanic?

Any tips would be great, ive used a bit of degreaser on a rag but is that bad?

    Thanks

De-greaser is ok but it will strip any sealant or wax you may have so make sure you reapply.

I just use a bit of car detergent in a bucket, and work away at it with a sponge. When it's nearly all gone, use a bit of polish to clean it right up, then reapply wax.

    Or, if it's a car I don't care about - glass cleaner

A wax and grease remover such as prep wash will be fine. It isn't going to harm the paint at all.

Prepsol or something like K+H Wax & Grease Remover (which is prepsol I think) Will take it off no worries and not harm your paint.
Will need to re-wax that area though

when i was doing my work experience for the auto mech/elect course at tafe, the place where i did it had multiple bottles of turtle wax polish (the green one) and we religously used that on any vehicle before it left the shop,
come to think of it, that was just one of the few things we did for every customer to make sure they bought their vehicle back when ever they needed something doing,

All this talk of rags and Turtle Wax is going to give me nightmares!!!

And are you referring to this? Turtle Wax

I certainly wouldn't use it on my car. Wouldn't touch any Turtle Wax products and I'm surprised anyone would. Pretty much every product they have contains either silicone or fillers.

id take it back to the mechanic and tell him to do it. how hard is it for some people to show a little pride and respect for other peoples property.

CT18 is just a strong wash and like most along with Degreaser and Prepsol will remove your wax or sealant pretty quickly!

Try a warm solution of your regular pH neutral car wash shampoo first, then if that does not work use a light solution of APC or Wax/Grease remover but then re-wax or re-seal that section. Personally if I got my car back with hand prints or marks I would not be going back and telling everyone about it - like one of the other guys said it is a lack of respect in your property and lack of pride in their work...
