Hi guys, after doing a bit of searching i couldn't really find the answers to my questions.
Want to give my vy SV8 (red) a good detail and thinking of maybe selling it. Looks pretty good and people comment but I know from cleaning it every second weekend and giving it a polish with some average stuff it could do with a good cut and polish.
I've only really ever had 4wds and they were usually just cleaned with a high pressure hose and maybe a self serve car wash brush here and there.
So the questions...
Does my car have clear coat? If so do I need to get special cutting compound? Got outlines of bat and other bird droppings which i hadn't noticed for a few days before cleaning it and they wont come out.
What's a clay bar?? Is it worth getting for this?
Is it worth getting one of those detailing kits with the polisher and everything? or just do it by hand?
Cheers, Tim

1. Yes your car has a clear coat.
2. No you don't need a special compound
3. A clay bar helps to clean contamination/dirt from within the clear coat that cannot be removed through weekly washing.
4. The bat and bird droppings are probably etched into the clear coat which means unfortunately they won't come out.
Most of the info is mentioned above and all correct
So the basics
Wash
Dry
Clay - you will be amazed!
Re-Wash
Dry
Polish - remove oxidation and bring back the red glow
Seal or Wax - protect
You can polish by hand if the oxidation or swirls are light but it is fairly hard work so the DAS6 polisher makes light work and produces consistent professional results. Then you have always got the right tool for your next car / family or friends cars...
