hey guys, i have just purchased the above clay bar kit from super cheap auto, and was wondering as a novice when it comes to clay barring a car am i goin to run into any trouble with this kit eg; is it a cheapo kit? have people had problems with it?
also i picked up a rockwell shopseries rs450 orbital polisher which i intend to use with the polyglaze cut and polish i already had at home, is this a good combination?
and finally can somebody recomend a good wax, eg; brand, and so on
thanks
james

As for the clay I haven't used Mothers products before. Wouldn't have been my first choice though. There are plenty of waxes available that are a good price. Guess it depends on what you want in terms of durability versus shine.
Personally I use P21S 100 over a sealant but you may not want to spend that much. What is your budget?
not that big mate

Just remember that a little goes a long way. One squirt per panel will suffice. Then simply wipe down with a good quality microfibre. Also with claying be very very gentle and make sure you use plenty of lube. Having a dark coloured car will make marring from claying very noticeable!

Machine polishing is a pretty expensive outlay. On top of the machine you then need to buy pads. Which you then need to work out which pads to buy. Can do your head in when you're just starting. I've already bought 2 RO's this year and am now looking at my 3rd machine. My wife is going to kill me.
cool thanks mate,
good luck with the minister of war and finance, maybe she'll understand

If you don't have the funds for a decent RO polisher, pads and polish (around $350 complete) then why not try DG Pre-Cleaner followed by DG Polish and Cleaner this combination should sort out light swirls and enhance the shine/gloss. Then for regular washing as suggested above get a bottle of DG Aquawax it will offer ongoing protection and shine and should last at least a year for weekly washes. You will get 100 times the results than off-the-shelf products and for not much coin.
Hope this helps

Thanks ccp, as it is a daily driver I don't fancy trying to polish it every weekend and spending hundreds if not thousands trying to keep it looking good
thanks for the advice

If you use the DG Pre-Cleaner and then Polish and Cleaner once (time about 1-2 hours) then you have the paint cleaned up. If you use the Aquawax when you dry your car after a regular was (time about 2 mins extra) then it will add to the protect. If you can clay and reapply the base product every 6 months it would be great, if not as long as you are using the Aquawax then it should be good for 12 months. Not much time (2-3 hours per year min) or investment (under $100), but it should look after your investment (the car) a lot better than anything mentioned in your original post
