    Default Cleaning and Waxing Help

    Morning All,

I'm planning on cleaning the car this weekend but would apprecaite some advice in relation to the order of the sealant and waxing.

I'm planning to use the Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine, followed up by the Optimum Opti-Seal. The question I have is it better to use a canubra wax under or over the synthetic wax coat?

    Thanks!

The question of great debate! and it also depends on what you are looking for - protection / looks / a combination...

With the combination you have I would wash, (then clay if neccessary) and follow with Opti-Seal. After leaving to cure for at least an hour then apply a second coat. You can then apply a premium carnauba wax over the top for extra looks. But it has to be a real carnauba paste wax, so that it has no cleaners like the 'liquid' versions.

It's definately a combination I'm going for. I have red paint and I don't want it to fade over time.

    So two coats of Opti-Seal?

With the wax, I was thinking of using a combination of the Optimum Spray Wax and a canurba wax to get the synthetic and natural mix of products (I've head this is better for the paint - maybe it's overkill). I beleive the canubra wax I have is Mother's California Gold. (That rings a bell but I can't be sure of the brand as it's been a while since I've used it.)

So the plan would be wash, opti-seal, opti-seal, and then what? Natural and then synthetic or synthetic then natural?

    Thanks!

Depends on what the Mothers product is you have - firstly make sure it is not the carnauba cleaner/wax or it will take off the Opti-Seal. Second if it is a liquid in a bottle then it is Synthetic as well, even though it says carnauba on the front. Let me know and I can figure out whether the combination will work

    Thanks for the ongoing help.

I can confirm that the product is Mother's California Gold Pure Carnauba Wax. If it helps it is "Phase Three" of the Ultimate Wax System and has a big sticker saying "safe for clear coats" and "non-abrasive formula."

Based on that, I'm guessing the wash/wax procedure would probably be:

    1. Wash with No Rinse and Shine
    2. Apply two coats of Opti-Seal
    3. Use Optimum Spray Wax as the synthetic option, and finally
    4. Apply the pure carnauba wax on last for the natural protection.

    Happy for feedback.

PS. I have forgotten how nice the Mother's wax smells. Anyone else enjoy the smell? The wife hates it. Perhaps its just me....

    Hi

There is no absolute right or wrong so what you are recommending will give great shine and protection. However I might go
    Wash
    Opti-Seal
    Carnauba Wax
    Spray Wax

Then once you wash regularly you can follow on with a few sprays of the wax after to maintain protection and shine

I know what you mean about the smell of the Mother's but your wife and I have something in common (that sounds wrong) the product I love is Duragloss Fast Clean and Shine - addictive.
