    Default Cleaning off bugs!

Hope I'm not double posting here, but the search results returned no bug topics.

What's a good product to clean bugs from the front bumper? normal cleaning products and a sponge just doesn't cut it!

coud use a light cut and polish compound, or i think there are a few products at supercheap/repco places that are bug cleaners. Some come with a good scourer too. i know Bar's Bugs is great for the window reservoir ad it cleans away bugs.

Spray some diluted all purpose cleaner on to the affected area and let it dwell for a few minutes. Repeat if necessary.

    This stuff seems cheap enough!

Mind you an APC will probably strip any wax you have so you will need to reapply. Although I don't think many people here wax their cars anyway.

I have an old chamois that I keep wet in the garage, when I get home from a trip and the front is a bug farm, I use it to get them off before they dry onto the paint. 30 seconds of effort saves 10

minutes later on - having a good wax layer also helps.

    Cheers John

I found that a soft clean cloth soaked in WD40 and a bit of elbow grease works well.

I purchased Sonax Insect Remover - Spray on and let soak for a few mins then wipe off with a wet sponge. Works well.

The problem with all these solutions is they take off the protection (wax or selant) then the less protection the more the bugs will stick. So the next time you come to remove them, it will be even harder...

A good sealant/wax provides a surface that is much harder for bugs to stick to. E.g. in one car we travelled around for about 800kms including a run from Sydney to Canberra - when we arried for the show $2 in the high pressure gun at the first wash in town, blasted the front/mirrors and all bugs gone This is because it had 2 good coats of Sealant on the front.

Removing bugs is simple - good protection and frequent cleaning (high pressure helps)

i found that turtle wax brand bug and tar remover works well. the one in the spray bottle. just apply and let sit for 5 mins and you will see the tar just leaking down the side of the panel. and just eats into the bugs too.
