I use Clay Magic Fine (Blue) which costs about $50 for a 200 gram bar and lasts about 4 cars.

The Dodo Juice Clay is great, the Clay Magic and 3M are also good and the same large size of 200 grams. A good starter clay is Mint Clay Bar which is a cheaper price only 100 gram but you should still get a few cars out of it, and it is still USA made.

Paint Cleanser is NOT the same as a clay bar, and paint cleansers / polishes should not be used unless the car is completely free from contamination or you have clayed just prior. (Otherwise you are just rubbing in all that grime and grit into your paint causing more damage)

I used the Mothers clay bar kit on my D40 Nissan Navara that I'm selling. I only bought it cause it was one of the cheaper ones but it seemed to do the job.

Not sure how it compares to the above mentioned brands though. That was also my first time at clay barring.

Mothers introduced its California Gold Clay Bar paint saving system some years ago after seeing the success professional detailers and body shops were having with the clay-based product. The word clay can be misleading, it is not as if you are about to slap some terra cotta on you car, it is a synthetic clay. The package also contains a small sample bottle of Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax as well.
