Hi all,
I've just acquired a Gerni 110.2 and reading through the manual it recommends the use of the car cleaning nozzle (which of course is not included). Will using the attachments that it came with damage my paint work, or is the nozzle advisable?
Thanks
Depending on the pressure of your equipment, it may not be safe. We have a Karcher (dont know what type) and its capable of getting limescale and dirt off concrete if needed! The most advisable thing is to not get to close with the end of the nozzle as pressure gets higher as you get closer to the source. There good for getting off hard stuck on dirt and grim, and really good on alloys as well.
Just did a quick search, and I found the Karcher. Its a K 2.080 and makes 10 PSI. The Gerni makes 11 PSI so its fairly similar

The Gerni won't have enough grunt to damage your paintwork.
You should not need the special car cleaning attachment for the Gerni, just keep it a min of 30cms from your paint work and 10cms from rims or arches and no worries.
One fun attachment to have for your pressure washer is a Foam Lance - video coming soon!

I bought the attachment anyway to be safe, but you're right it doesn't have enough grunt anyway. The attachment has a nice wide spray that I like, so not a total loss.
Don't get too close. But regularly clean your car so that you don't have to clean it as hard.
i work at bunnings and i sell these to people all the time.
the gerni 110.2 has a max psi of about 1500 (dont know what the guy was saying 10-11psi lol)
this sounds like alot but considering the petrol powered ones have around 2500-3000psi max, its nothing to be too worried about,
i have a kartcher 2.91 which has a max psi of 1595 and although i try not to, when it gets close to the paintwork it doesnt even flake it. if you held it there long enough im sure it would.
saying that i do use it to clean the grime i shit off my concrete driveway, it does it great but unless i hold it within 10cm of the concrete nothing happens, just a wet driveway.
the gerni car nozzle that you mentioned changes the angle of spray released from 30 degrees (turbo nozzle they call it) to 60 degrees, in essence just splits the pressure up more so its not all in one spot (when paint comes off)
the guy before is right a general rule of thimb is washing a car stay about 10-30cm away from car to ensure no damage is done, obviously the older the paint the more likely it is to flake off but with any pressure cleaner under about 500$ you wont take paint off without holding it on the car for 10 seconds lol.
if your REALLY worried about it taking paint gerni and kartcher make a vario pressure nozzle that you can turn down or up on the end of the handle so you can control the pressure very fine, this of course if about 100$ for the nozzle :|
hope this helps guys![]()
