I bought a VZ at Auction and it had a lot of tar spots.

    I used all purpose thinners.

It should not hurt your paint because it should be two pack but try it inside the boot or inside a door edge first.

    I wouldn't go near "thinners"...

Prepsol or equivalent wax & grease remover works great to remove tar

Good old kerosene does the trick, a bottle is cheap and lasts for ages.

All solvents will remove wax on your car regardless if you may think so or not. They are chemicals to remove tar, and tar is a much stronger solvent/chemical/product than any wax itself.

So if you do use it, make sure you re-apply any sealant or protection afterwards.
