Hi Guys,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you about these lights. We have been working madly on our online store lately and it’s been a while since I have had a chance to get on to the forum.
We do sell the VY SS lights and with regards to the quality they are a good light for an aftermarket product.
If anyone is looking at buying a set please contact me via email at andrew@carsrus.com.au. We can supply them to any Just Commodores members for $189 for a pair plus P&H.
Best Regards
Andrew

Hi Banks,
I have not had the chance to put them side by side but they are basically a copy of the genuine ones. You should be able to fit one of these next to a genuine one and not tell the difference.

Guys
For quality and durability of the plastics and the retention of colour over a period of years, how do the non-genuine lights, particularly tail-lights,compare to the genuine article. I recall seeing many Jap cars where the factory tail-lights have discoloured badly after a few years, particularly indicator lenses, which have gone an ugly dull orange and lost their translucence. Do the Altezza lights hold up well in our climate?
Also, are you able to give some indication how long it will be before VY tail-lights become available?

Hi VYII BERLINA,
That is a good question about fading and to be honest it is something that only time will tell as the high levels of UV are a problem for anything left in the sun for a period of time in Australia.
The majority of late model non genuine lights are manufactured with the very similar tooling and technology as the genuine lights. One the main manufacturers of our non genuine products sells something like 800 million dollars worth (that’s wholesale value) of lights every quarter world wide and have also recently started manufacturing a lot of the genuine lights for Toyota, Mitsubishi, Honda and Nissan. The days of second rate quality after market products are dying (there are still a few being sold in Australia). Which they should the technology is there and peoples expectations of quality have certainly risen over the years, I know mine has.
But fading is something that really can’t be helped here in Australia. And the lights that we sell more of than anything else due to fading are VT Commodore headlights and EF/EL Falcon headlights which are terrible for fading and the genuine versions were originally supposed to have been manufactured in Australia.
All the products we sell are covered by a 12 month warranty against manufactures faults and also the quality of the plastic which includes fading.
With regards to the VY tail lights they are getting close. We actually had a chance to see a test set of the chrome ones in Sydney a few ago. The VY tail lights are right in the middle of manufacturing at the moment so I would expect to have them with in the next 4-6 weeks. The first versions that will be available are a simple chrome or black design, but there should be some LED ones to follow.
If you do have any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
Best Regards
Andrew

Thanks for the very quick response Andrew. Are you able to indicate a likely price for the VY tail-lights?

Hi Again,
Well i have some good news. I should have a set in stock tomorrow. They are a test set that we have to check quality and fitment.
I will hopefully get a chance to post some pictures up on the forum tomorrow.
As far as price is concerned we should be able to supply them to forum members for around $225 per set.
Regards
Andrew
