It may be a silly question, but this is the first time I have had a car with computerised everything.
I have a VS Statesman and I have been working on stopping the leaks. I would like to clean the engine bay to check that I have.
Will I damage the electrics if I put a pressure cleaner spray from one of those DIY car cleaner places in the engine bay?
just keep it away from elec plugs ans sensors andaway from ignition parts
I suggest you dont go to a DIY place like carlover's ect. The one near me has a lot of salt in the water for boats being cleaned. I cleaned the engine in my vr for when the assor came to value it for writeoff.
After cleaning making sure I was careful of connectors and electrics, it still had 3 warning lights come on and ran like a dog till it dried out.
Never clean your engine bay with fluids while the motor's hot/warm as this causes condensation to get into things. I've washed a vs and two vy's heaps with water while they're cold no problem although I havn't used any more pressure than just a garden hose. Put a plasic bag over throttle body sensor, fuse/relay box and anything else that looks like it needs it. But do it while the engine's COLD.
Oh yes I used to own a vh and soon learnt to cover the electronic ignition module beacause if I didn't it got wet [hot or cold] and I'd have to pull it apart and dry it.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
lol i have killed 2 coil packs in my vp, washing it that way
wont do that again lol
twice is enough
