A/c unit switches off when external air temp is very hot, fan continues blows hot air

hi all,
i recently sent my car into holden with an a/c fault (as described above). Holden states they found the fault. Their remedy was to replace the "HCM" and reprogram.

What is a HCM ?

I'm concerned if this term is the same that references the ECU, because i edit'd the ECU on a dyno and worried that all of those changes are lost.

On a VE, if they have done a relearn, which is very common with VE's, then you lost everything. In a relearn they install new updated software to correct faults in the original software.
