VE Berlina Power connector for phone kit

I posted this in another thread but think it may be more appropriate here.

I am trying to install a car kit for a phone. I was going to connect it to the smokers connector behind the dash but was told it's not a good idea. There is a connector behind the glove box, but i don't want to mess with it until i have more information. Can anyone please advise?

It should have the connector location in the owner's manual.
