hey guys, i'm just wondering if anyone can tell me the colour (or even better the terminal number) of the wire from the ecu that signals the engine warning light on the dash of a vt?

There is no direct connection from the ECU to the MIL.

The MIL globe is powered constantly via a pink/blue wire (Terminal 19 in your instrument cluster) and is earthed by a transistor inside the diagnostic interface (inside the cluster) via either the BCM, ABS or climate control module via termial 12 in instrument cluster (grey/white wire).
The BCM gets a signal from the ECU to earth this wire via terminal A3 red/black(serial data line).

This is difficult to explain. I suggest you look at a wiring diagram if this does not make sense.

so there's no possible way of rigging up an led to tell me fault codes without a proper vt dash and bcm?

nup. im going through this exact senario right now, but L67 in a VR with T5 manual.

options are BCM simulator from V6 Conversions, gives you engine light, temp gauge, diagnostics, a/c, low speed fan.

the option i'm going is VS Manual ECU, with VS L67 tune, and i'm modifying the existing harness so i can plug it into the VS computer.

Cheers,
Brendan

if you have a look at l67torque theres a diagram on there of how to change the pinouts to suit the vs ecu. the plugs are the same, just not the pinouts.

i've used the vl oil press sender and coolant temp sender and double adapted them. that way the guages will work fine.

did you buy the bcm simulator? if so how much was it?

nah i have been running the vt ecu with no security, patched into the vr body harness for around 9 months now, with no engine light, or comp controlled fans etc, with no problems.

just getting around to doing it properly now, now that all my other problems are sorted.

bcm simulator is $425 according to v6 conversions websites.
