Make your own Transmission Manualiza plug for $6.00
This is wired the same as the Transmission Manualiza plug that RVO and DTM transmissions are supplying for large amounts of money.

This transmission manualizing plug disables the Automatic gear change and allows the 4L60 transmission to be manually gear changed under full trans line pressure.
It will give a smooth manual gear change at low Revs/Power, and Hard as manual gear changes at High Revs/High Power.

1 x 4L60E transmission plug from a VR - VY Commodore loom. cut it off with between 100mm - 200mm of wire on it. $5.00
1 x IN5408 4 amp silicone rectifier diode. $1.00
4 X Stubbies of Harn light

Solder the yellow and light green wire on to the anode side of the diode and insulate.
Solder the yellow/black and Brown/yellow to the Cathode side of the Diode ( Side with the silver band).
supply 12volts from the ignition (reds) to the pink/blue wire to power the transmission.
Cut off remaining unused wires.
Drink both stubbies of Harn light and send remaining 2 stubbies to Zapp for making this freely available to all forum members.

obviously this looses torque convertor lockup and trans temperature 4th gear lockout good for doing an engine swap into an old vehicle with no ecu and a non-lockup convertor not so good on a commodore with standard convertor will cook the box if its driven at highway speeds without a non-lockup convertor and accompanying fluid mods inside the box for the TC

I didn't want to get to involved with the usage of the plug as every built transmition is a bit different.
I think the smartest use of the plug mod would be in a purpose built transmittion, to use for Drag, Hillclimb, Club Circuit racing and Dyno days.

This mod can be used with the transgo stage 2 shift kit to turn your trans to full manual.

While this plug is installed your check engine light will be on as the ECU can not talk to the 4L60E tranny.
You could ask an Auto Chief to cook you a new chip with the auto function removed like the manual gear box mod and use that race days.

Once you install the plug how do you change gear? Is it semi-auto or full manual?

Has anyone tried this for an extended period of time? If so what effects did it have on the tranny/torquie?

So I gave this a go on the weekend to a VR wagon, traced the wiring colours back to the ECU so could perform necessary mods much easier, and the result is a mixed win. Put in the specified diode and connected according wires, and its operating manualised for 1st and 2nd gear but does select 3rd of 4th at all. This isnt a problem as its being done for a burnout car (wont get above 2nd anyway), but not ideal if wanted to do for street car.
