holden vp taco prob

hey guys im trying to put a taco into my holden vp
i have tryed the brown wire in the left side of the bay and nothing happens there are 4 wires on the taco black/green/orange/red.
now the green hits the brown wire in the bay and red hits power and black hits ground and orange hits lights now why wont it work so has any one got any ideas on how to fix my little prob ?????? help lol

Taco's arent for cars. Perhaps the problem is that you need a tacho?

Is it getting power? Does it light up when you turn the car/lights on? If not check the power wiring. If its lighting up but not reading anything, check the engine wiring.
