Hi , had a prob starting a while back , cleaned up battery cables/post all o'k' , now same again , slow initial crank the wroom she starts, not all the time though sometimes fires up straight away , got battery checked all o'k' , bloke reckons starter on way out , i clean up bettery cables again , same no diff , get mate to turn over and i look down to starter , sparks fly from earth to starter lead where it bolts on but eventually starts , maybe bad connection ? , hard to get at ! , any ideas ?, ta.......

id try remove the + power lead that goes to the battery and heat shrink it to eliminate that arc out

Is there a common situation when the starter cranks slowly / when the starter cranks fine?

Ive seen starters on the way out that work fine when the engine is cold, but when the engine is warm / hot it struggles.

Could also try tightening the starter motor cable connection, get at it underneath the car.
