This has blacked out on my car.
Is there a simple fix, such as the plug at the back of the instrument cluster or a plug else where that should be cleaned? All other LCDs work ok as do the rest of the instruments.
I have tried to find a circuit diagram but have not been successful so far, so dont know what else it plugs into.

Thanks in advance
Jeff

Sorry to say. but most likely its dead given the fact that the rest work. Give phreedy a msg. He might be able to replace the center lcd for you.

VY 11 Calais centre LCD in instrument cluster

Thanks for your prompt reply MagiTEK
I should have mentioned in the original post that it does come on at times, so am convinced its an intermittant connection problem, hence the question about the plugs. As i dont know what the instruments plug into, some other black box I assume, I wondered if its the plug at the rear of the instrument cluster or is there another one some where in the system.

Eating Humble pie, you were right MagiTEK.
My LCD gave up completely.
But the good news (for me, I am in Perth) is I found a guy only 15 minutes drive away who does LCD replacements on all types of equipment, including instrument clusters.

Speedline Instruments
Mb 0447 553 331
Ph 08 9401 1371
Email [email protected]

He does
Mechanical and electronic instrument repairs
Speedos
Digital programming
LCD pixel repairs
Customised dials
Refurbishments

He replaced my LCD at a cost of $145. That's compared to $800 for a new cluster from the local dealer.
He was able to recalibrate the gauges using software so I imagine he could reset the distance too.
He could probably change the back lighting to blue too, for those who want it.
