We have recently purchase a Commodore VR Wagon that the previous owner started to put the cruise control in.

Sadly he did not complete the job (no stop switch etc) so I am completing it.

There is some indication that the current loom supports the cruise control but I need to check.

Its number is GM 92049

Many thanks for any advice/input

Not sure of that number. The Kit looms I have sold for an executive last year were a plug in type of patch loom and had wires going all over the place. It was in 2 parts - an engine bay loom that went to the fire wall and then an under dash loom that plugged into the control switch, brake switch, cluster and the relay/fuse bit.

How much of the cruise system has been fitted to date?

Many thanks for you reply

I think... I have worked out most of it now. Looking at the system - The Servo is in place and the wires for that merge into the main loom, which indicates to me that the loom was set up to handle the cruise control.

The arm on the steering wheel has also been installed and likewise a plug goes back into the main loom

About the only things the previous owner has not done is to get the extra brake switch, so that the 2 wires for that are left unplugged. Reading other articles I take it that this is a normally closed switch so that the CC can firstly test that the switch is in circuit, and secondly use it to trigger the CC to disconnect when the predal is puushed.
That being the case then the CC will not activate until I either bridge the wires (for testing only) or install the switch.

Again many thanks for you reply.

Yep - I test the crusie systems for brake switch failure by running 2 wires from the brake switch so I can holde them together to set the system. I felt un easy about hard wiring them in relying on the on off switch, so if I drop the wires the cruise cuts off. This will test the system is working. Do you have the 2 wires to the cluster? A white 1 and a green 1 - they supply speed pulses and the light to say it's on.

Opps - thats VN colours. The cluster wires are in the loom already for the VR VS so delete that last bit
