power switch vt!

hey all, so alongside other problems with my vt wagon, the power switch no longer operates.
trying to trouble shoot the problem without replacing parts as this can be endless!
is there a way to test the switch?
it's constantly stuck in econ mode, which is fine, it's just the annoyance of it not working as im sure you can understand.
the last time i recall it working was before i pulled the instrument cluster out to replace some globes.. may i have pulled something out then and not realized?

isnt it a momentary contact switch, you just press it & the PWR lt comes on in the cluster, press the sw again & the light goes off. (All it does is lift your Automatic Trans shift points) it does nothing for the engine performance.)
