Hi all,
have just done a vs v8 to vr v6(lexcen if it makes any difference) conversion. I have tried to fire it up and have no injector pulse.
After doing a code read i got a 31 theft deterent signal missing. I unhooked the battery and cleared the code.
I then put a new little red light in it(it works now). I have tried 2 different bcms and they both turn the red light off so i know the bcms are working with thier respective remotes.
After trying a few different things i fanally cleared the code again, read the codes to ensure it was gone the pulled the paper clip and wound it over while the light was out. Still no injector pulse and it immediatley gave a code 31.
I have never had this car going before so i dont know if its a previous problem or not.
My question is, is there a way to directly send the signal from the bcm to the ecu? If there is what wires do i have to join together? I will leave the existing wires in and just splice in at the bcm and run it temporarily to the ecu to see if i can get injector pulse.
I dont think it the ecu as i had it going with this motor previously.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers Shane

Am going through this right now with a VS ecotec into VR conversion. Apparently the VATS codes for the immobiliser are different between VR and VS. Either need to change ALL the wiring from one to the other or more simply get the PCM reprogrammed with VATS disabled...Can't use a VS BCM to marry up with the PCM either without changing the looms. The BCM pinout colour codes for the wiring are different. We tried the VS BCM and it blew the ignition/instrumentation fuse. I'm looking for someone that can do the programming quickly for me and cheaply (enough). Any help please??!!!!
go to the wreckers and cut the BCM plugs off a VS, and get the BCM and key head.
get a wiring diagram for both, and splice the VS plugs onto the VR harness. Plug in the VS BCM, and voila.
only need to change a few things, most of the colours are the same. one major thing is the way the BCM switches the cruise control setup. will need an external relay.
Thats what I've done in mine, also left the VR plugs there, so I can plug in the VR BCM when the VR motor goes back in.
Hi wamboin,
i have the vs ss that the 304 came out of. I also have a vs bcm and remote. When it was in the vs it was going. Am not worried about cruise control.
I am hopeless with wiring diagrams. So if most of the colors are the same, are the ones that are different totally different ie say theres a black wire in one loom there is no black wire in the other loom? or are the color wires used the same but that they marry up differently?
Is there a different comp i can use to get it working? or will i have to splice wires? I want to do this for free if possible as i just want to sell it as a going car with a little bit of rego on it.
Cheers Shane
