[URGENT] [VT] When I disengage handbrake, lose power to dash..

Hey there,

Just this morning went to start my car and I can turn it on fine however now the electric faultlight lights up inthe temperature section of dash. I then tried disengaging the handbreak and immediately the odometer went blank and when the fuel gauge speedo etc all dont work however when i reengagethey all come back on again. So can put the car in drive with handbrake on and would be fine but as soon as i release the dash loses power... Any ideas???? Cant take to a dealer to do diagnostics as its sunday...

This is on a series 2 vt

Almost definitely either a short or loose wire.

I would start by carefully checking the handbrake (including under the car) for intereference.

You will most likely need to know how to use a multimeter to find this problem, as diagnostics would be practically a waste of time.
