headlights work, no dash lights, car wont start. help me please guys.

hey, today i was taking out the gauges on my drivers side pillar and while i was tidying up the wires a positive wire and a ground touched now my car wont start, headlights work, no dash lights and car wont crank at all, wont even try. any ideas? its a vr executive.

Check fuses. More than likely something with an air gap....

iv checked the fuses under the hood, and under the dash and they all seem fine =s

Did you use a meter to check them or just visual?

It's also possible (from the description I'm assuming they were aftermarket gauges you removed) that there has been another fuse installed as part of that. May be worth a ferret under the dash to see what you can find. I've noticed a few hidden bonus fuses under my dash - not sure if they're documented anywhere. Possible that the only time they blow is when there's a serious issue therefore you should seek assistance.

Have a look and check.

Check the battery voltage - when you turn the key, does the voltage dip?
