    Default Wiring anderson plug

Just wondering whats the best way to wire an anderson plug..

It is the smaller one (50amp I believe), and im wiring 8ga wire into it..

Ive been told different things as to how to do it, I tried crimping with vice grips, didnt work, So my other 2 options are solder the wire and crimp (so the wire is solid and has something to bite onto), or flog someones blowtorch and fill the terminal with solder, dip in the wire and let it set..

    Let us know

    Other guy?

I never realised there was a specific crimper for an anderson plug.. I might hit up a caravan place one day and see if they have a crimper.. Failing that, maybe even a local auto sparky

Where I work we deal with anderson plugs a lot. It's me and the boss. He is the one who does the anderson plugs.

I solder the connectors. Get a Bunnings blow torch and heat the connector with the wire in it until solder melts into it. Do not heat the wire or the solder, just put the flame on the connector and have the solder poking in with the wire. Go until it fills up with solder.

anywhere that deals with cables will have a hex crimper.

audio shop, auto elec, 4WD shop etc.

i just use a set of snapon crimpers to do them - never had a prob.

no need to solder either - waste of time if you crimp properly.

Cheers.. Ill keep it in mind for next time..

I took it to an audio shop, and they said they dont have a crimper for it, so they would have to solder it, and soldering would be $40, so I went and grabbed a blowtorch (really decent one actually) for $26 and did it myself..

    Turned out pretty OK..

I just used 2x bullet plugs with mine. but the amp is hard wired in and bolted to the parcel shelf.

I assume yours is either built into the sub or you have bolted the amp to the sub?

Bolted the amp to the sub.. Unless I can be bothered taking it out tomorrow, ill show you it at Mischa's..

Its all in, blowtorched, this, that.. But I broke the one golden rule, test it before you tape it.. I taped up (wrapped in lecky tape) 1m of cable, then went to test it and found out some how the power isnt jumping between the +ve on the car's anderson , and the +ve on the subs anderson....
