Sorry for the delay; only just found the posting.

The problem was the spoiler light wasn't working, but when I reversed out of the Holden dealer (with full glass frontage) the reverse lights weren't on either. My electrician mate knew what it was - the wiring loom that goes from the boot up to the boot lid. With all the movement over the years one wire had corroded, so when re-soldered everything back to normal. Hope this helps.
