    Default VT SS Thermo problem

    Hello all.
thermo fans on my vt ss 5L will not turn off, even if the ignition is off, i have to disconnect the battery every time i stop or it keeps running.

I've done some research on this site and others and i cannot find the roots of the problem.

    what I've attempted so far:
Changing of the Low speed fan relay (white 5 lug one)
    Replaced the coolant temp sensor.
    Battery terminals

A few months ago my dad and I replaced the water pump and inlet manifold gasket, when we put all the parts back on the block a heater vac hose was left off and i'm not sure if this could be related to the issue.

Could there be an issue with the fuse box connection?

Any help is greatly appreciated, similar issue stories and how you rectified them.

Did you bleed the cooling system properley after you fixed the pump and manifold? It could be overheating and leaving the fans on to cool it down.

I would take a guess at the relay sticking, my dad had a VT SS and it did this 3 times, tapping the top of the relay with a hammer LIGHTLY! if it stops its the fan! if it doesnt pull the relay out, if it clicks when u pull it out or put it back in u have a wiring/ECU problem!

well gents, today i had a win!

upon inspection the vac hose from the heater tap was not connected..
found hose, and installed, did another cooling system bleed as suggested above and voila! thermo fans off.

thankyou everyone for your suggestions they were most appreciated.
