    Default VH dash cluster question

Okey dokey, markovr i had a fiddle with the wiring today on the VH and have made a little progress, as i said last night i think the engine check light is solved just need a way i can do something to the car to give a warning light test to the engine check light?.
The headlights well i have disconected the wire from the VN loom to the VH round plug and the headlights work correctly as they should but then i join the wire togeather and they stay on even with the switch turned off. Oh i found a relay i had under the dash i put in a while ago and its to the headlights and is wireed the way you said last post.
The blinkers well i still have hazards working good and the three other wires if i join the brown and green wire (i think the green is the blue / white wire but in the loom its light green when every other diagram its blue / white), i get the left and right turns working corectly but not sure what the violet is for as when i touch the brown and violet togeather the either turn light stays lit.
I was thinking to run the wire for the demist idiot light up next to the clock just to make use of it but not sure how to wire up a light to come on when the demist is turned on.
The other wires from the three plugs on the VN side should i just tape each one up out of the way?
Oh i plugged the tacho wire to the spade terminal on the clusters back i think it was on the right spade, and when i fired the car up it flicked but then did nothing when reving the car.
Thanks again ever so much for all your help with this mate your saving me a lot of head aches cheers, nealy ready to screww the rest of the dash back togeather yeah.

Well a tidy up today and put the cluster in place and the looms up behond the dash and now it will not fire, tried jumping it but no good so me thinks its new battery time well recharge for the time being and then see if she fires up in a few days.
Oh markovr found out how to check the engine check light, got a copy from an old boss who used to be a mechanic and is into computers has a copy of a book covering other models and brands called Electronic engine management and emissions manual.
Shows how to check error codes with a paper clip or a short bit of off cut wire from today to bridge the ALDL connector and the lion logo on the dash lights up giving code 12 systems fine so im happy there.
Now to find the fault with the headlight wiring and blinkers but we will get there lol cheers

can you draw me what you have done with the lights and indicators and headlights showing plugs and wire colours and ill figure out how to get them working? Paper clip test earths diagnostic terminal and when you switch the key to on check engine idiot light will flash codes.

heres what i can do with the flasher/indicators....only drama is the indicators work all the time (if you switch them with the stalk)even when key turned off

or this if you only wanted the indicators to work with the key and only the hazards to work at any time

Hey mate here is a run down of what ive done with the VH hope it makes sence, just to let you know also the VH has full VN loom front to back, the steering column is VN the blinker arm switch ans wiper arm switch on the column is VR/S, the hazards switch is a switch i got from Jaycar ill post the pic of it that is near the clock next to rear demist switch, and the headlight switch is VR/S.
I have the head lights working untill i join the wire from the VH cluster high beam light to the high beam light from the VN loom for the cluster when i do this the headlights are on full time.
The VN blinker loom wires if i join the Brown and green wires the blinker switch works fine if i dont join them they dont work but i do have the hazards working fine. Im not sure what to do with the purple wire but.
The headlight switch from VR/S to VN connection was done using your diagram from the post about putting VR/S dash into VN/P but i havent bothered to hook the dome light up that way maybe down the track not fussed.
One other thing is there a way to make the VR/S wiper arm switch intermitten part work withthe VH wipers i dont think they can as the VN as far as i remember never had it or was it only one speed i forget, if its too hard it dosent matter no real need just curious cheers

hook up purple wire that comes from from blinker switch to 49a of flasher relay or join it to the wire going to it and indicators will work.

Have you done this to change the high beam lamp to be a positive trigger to work?

Well markovr ive got the high beam light working correctly with the use of your diagram on a new relay and the blinkers well i touched the purple wire to the flasher relay and it seemed to make strange noises so i tried the other two terminal but nope one was giving a blinking pattern but was opposite to the flash of the blinker (Oh i was using a test light to test with to) so im just leaving the purple wire unhooked and the green and the brown wires ive soldered togeather and the blinkers work fine and so do the hazards only the rh blinkers flash a little quicker than the other side but im sure thats because the rh rear needs a new globe in the tail light.
Now im pretty much done in the dash everyhting seems fine and working just need to wire the tacho up and the new speedo when i get it soon hoping. May just buy a new tacho as well to match the speedo looks and could be easier to wire in rather than wiring the old stock cluster tacho, what do you think.
Anyway time to go thanks heaps again mate cheers

Ok mate hope you dont mind i have one other question, i found a post that you put up a diagram of a VP power antenna set up and i would like to do the same as i found the VH has an electric antenna in the guard but no modual. I will get one from the wreckers soon as they have a series one statesman there that should have it, and i should be able to keep the unit under the guard but im a little tied on the wiring diagram.

I take it from looking at it the vn and the vp will be the same but if possible i would like to run the VH up/down switch, there are three pins on the back of it 3,4,5 i take it 3 would be up, 5 down and the 4pin in the middle to run to fuse 13?
I have a sony xplode cd/ mp3 player in the car and the wiring diagram has a blur wire for pwr antenna, would this wire run back to the mod?
The antenna itself from what i can see has a red and a blue wire are these + & - or both + or Both -?
    Cheers mate thanks

Well got the wiring done for the power antenna only i found that the cord from the inside the mast is no longer connected correctly as in some of it is hanging out of the unit. I will attempt to replace the cord or just buy a new power antenna not sure, other wise i think that the switch and wiring work.
