Hi everyone.
I wired up the stereo system in a vr statesman about 5 years ago, in the last few months it has developed the following problem:
the active wire fuse holder near the battery starts to go black and melt around the fuse, but only at one end of the fuse holder, the end heading back to the firewall not the end closest to the battery.
I would only be guessing to say it might be a earth problem, I need help please
Thanks

What kind if fuse holder is it? Usually if a fuse holder starts melting it is because of a bad connection in the fuse holder itself
If it is a standard ANL type fuse holder which uses a couple of bolts on the ends of the fuse it might pay to clean the terminals with some sand paper
or something then make sure the bolts are tight.

Maybe post a pic of your fuse holder.

In every case i have seen of melted fuses.
Of any type.
It's because of a bad connection.

If the fuse is making a bad connection at the holder, It will melt.
If the wire's are making a bad connection at the holder, It will melt.

I'd check and make sure everything is on propley and tight.
Make sure there is no corrosion or rust that could cause the bad connection.

thanks all for the comments.
The cable is 8G power cable feeding 2 amps, one 500W the other 650W
As per the pic the fuse seats in the middle section with the two outer plastic covers screwing together.
I remember i soldered the ends of the cable before engaging into fuse folder and tighting down grub screws
Do you normally solder ends or leave wire bare?

No need to solder end's.
It need's to be bare wire so it can form inside the fuse holder.

Cut the solderd end off the wire
And re attach the holder.
