Hi, I'm a little stumped. My brake lights have stopped working. So to rectify, first I changed the globes (they were blown) and then the fuse (although it seemed ok). All lights work ok so there is power getting there. I can't think what else to look for apart from an auto electrician. What am I missing? It seems weird it is both at the same time? Cheers for any tips and help.

Just because it moves in and out doesn't mean it's working get a new one and that should fix your problem

I've checked the switch and it seems ok, moving in and out so I'm still lost?

It's designed to go in and out even if it's not working. So with that comment, it might be best to get someone that knows what they're doing to look at it. Otherwise get a multimeter on it and see if it's working correctly.

Brake light switches get one hell of a workout, especially in an auto. It's a wonder they last as long as they do.
As "Ghost" says ^^^^. Get a new one.
Just because they "seem" to look and work ok, it's the guts that are screwed.

The EF/EL Falcons (Sorry, dirty word) were notorious for bad brake light switches.
In the 8 years I had my EF, I replaced the switch 7 times!!!!!

easiest test under the sun. get someone to stand behind your car and then use a small bit of wire to bridge the 2 terminals in the connector and see if it works. if not then problem lies elsewhere, if it works, its your switch. 5 mins and you havvent spent a cent in diagnosis of the problem
