Car shorting out why???

I have just gutted my ute of a previous dodgy sub/amp job! Now car is shorting out and won't kick over? What could be causing this?

what do you mean shorting out? what exactly is happening?

Blew a fuse under steering column, replaced it put head unit in and blew another. it was twist and tape job and was MESSY! so i fully gutted it and am left with old cluster, started until i cliped the face of my head unit on? And its not fully dead does want to kick over..

Nothing was touched only wires which where connected to the back of head unit! All wires are taped! it did fire over then i put the face of my head unit on and then no good! So im guessing that may have shorted it out and blown another fuse?? Yes getting reds and is cranking but no fire.

Yeah i will try this in the morning, just not 100% sure what the previous owner has done.. got me stumped!
