I used a full VT harness transplant into an FC Holden. If I join pink and grey/green (on/off) wires, will I effectively permanently turn on cruise control ability?

Pin 17 on the plug. You should be able to work the wire colour out.

Not my picture....Thank "uniacidz".

No worries.

I've been thinking about that...... I suppose it would enable it permanently. Just not 100% sure.
A lot of those switches that run to the BCM are momentary switches, for example the A/C switch.
Press it once and a signal/voltage is sent to the BCM to turn whatever on.....Press again and another signal/voltage is sent to the BCM to turn whatever off.
Why do you want it on permanently???

This wiring is all sitting in an FC Holden and reduction of the number of switches is preferable. The cruise will be hidden to the side of the dash as I want to make it look original.

As you can see some are hidden in the glove box already. 12V cig boot release etc.

I have done something very similar with the cruise switch for a customer. He had a VX and I was wiring a disabled driver spinner knob. Nut Kracker is right, all the functions are momentary. So joining the wires will not work.

Simply connect a relay between the the On/Off wire (Grey/Green) and the Supply (Pink) triggered by the start/crank off the ignition.
Relay wiring-
85 - Gnd
86 - Start/Crank
30 - Feed to switch (Pink)
87 - On/Off (Grey/Green)

VEO55 champion mate, I am a bit of a wiring noob but understand the numbering system for the relay wires.

Appreciated!

So I did this and it works!!! Turn on engine and wait 4 seconds and cruise activates automatically.

Just have to work out how to use the other two wires to activate it...
