OK so i found the "brown wire" in the VR, but the signal wire in my 2000VT V6 5spd IS NOT TAPED TO THE LOOM IN FRONT OF THE FIREWALL NOR IS IT ALONG THE PASSENGER SIDE STRUT TOWER!
the loom in front of your coil pack with the right angled plastic cover over it, is where it hides!!!
there are 3 brown wires, but two go into the DFI module plug, splice back both, cause one works and ones a bit of a dud, i had no fancy test light, i just touched the tacho signal wire to either and went with the best read, IT WORKS!!!
SO for those that cant find it, this is where it hides.
cheers, im going racin!!!

It's just we were discussing it on the phone the other day.
The 304ci tacho signal wire is in the loom along the fire wall near the passenger's side strut tower.
But apparently the V6's isn't.

The signal wire on the VT 304 has a small factory plug already on the wire. It's easy to find, so it was just a matter of plug and play.
No pulling the dash apart.

Pull down the knee panel and look up. Its the same panel yoi have to remove to get any other wires through the firewall.
