As the title reads, what's your favourite type of connection for general wiring? I'm just curious as to what other people use and why. I personally prefer the Spade connection for its ease of installation and quick disconnections :)

Soldering. Takes a bit longer but never have an issue with bad connections down the track.

Soldering. When it's all you do, day in and day out... solder. Besides, with enough practice, it's quicker.

@Reaper, us pros don't use them due to cost but they are certainly a great item for the average bloke with a bit of sense.

Delcowizzid is right, supposedly they are prone to fail through vibration. Infact, in aircraft.... no soldering at all, everything is crimp connected. Of course not your average crimp connector though and if I remember correctly with my old man... it was a three day course on how to crimp a terminal lol

+1 For solder, only use the crimp and heat connectors when I have to crimp something. They come in spade, ring and similar to what Reaper posted. Have heaps of em for work.

In higher current applications I tend to do both. Adding the compression factor of a crimp terminal on a starter cable certainly cant hurt with the flow of green wriggly stuff!
