would anyone know what would cause the start fuse to keep blowing when I go to start my stato? series 1 vs v8. got me stuffed. has gone through about a dozen fuses trying to find the fault. have even changed battery and start motor harness. only blows when I crank it over. have tried running a separate purple wire from starter to battery with a push button in between. reds are on all good. only when it cranks it blows the fuse. also changed ignition module. cheers for any help

May be look at the possibility of a faulty start relay and/or the wiring associated with it.

Did that also include the wiring from the ignition switch?

There also my be a fault with the starter solenoid.

Put a multi meter on the positive wire from the start relay to the starter motor solenoid, to an earth point (with ignition off).
See if it shorts to ground.
There is a short some where. It's just a matter of elimination.

well I replaced all wiring on the starter side, like starter, alt and such. I did try running a wire from the solenoid to the battery with a button in the middle { to replace the purple wire) with reds on all good, push the button to engage starter it winds and starts for a millisecond before blowing the fuse

You may just have to go around with a multi meter and probe all the wiring and the starter solenoid.
There definitely is a short some where. It's just going to take time I'm afraid.

Just a thought....but have you checked the ignition switch?
