Hi guys,

Can someone diagnose this issue for me? The windows go UP fine, but when I press button down it will travel down a few centimetres at a time (so if I press press press it will jerk down). Also if I press and HOLD button down for 5 secs the window will go down as normal. This happens for both FR windows.

Ideas welcome.

Cheers,

Jim

ok does it rattle , it could be the plastic window guide they known to break, my bet it be dirty contacts on your switch , unclip it and clean them with contact cleaner , if that don't work get a new switch.

Has it just started doing it? Or since you've purchased the car? Sounds reminiscent of a window roll up module by Viper not programmed properly. Does it roll down the same few cms everytime without fail... almost as if it was supposed to do that?

Hey guys,

There is no rattle, and I will try cleaning the switch. Just wonder why it does it on both sides and will work if I keep it pressed down.

The windows have been doing this for some years but did not do it when I purchased the car. It does go down by the same amount each time. I am unsure about the module or how to test it.

Cheers,

Jim

Hey,

I took it apart and cleaned it (was a bit dirty), still doing the same thing. I ordered a new switch, $31 off eBay, I'll see if that fixes it.

Unfortunately, you will need to go a lot further than that when it needs a clean. You actually need to seperate the magical black box and clean the metal contacts with isopropyl alcohol and/or firbreglass pen.

I actually really wish someone good lend me theirs for a few days so I can strip it down and do a photo tutorial on how to thoroughly clean them.
