Just hoping someone can help.

We have a VX Commodore Lumina V6 auto that has a number of problems that make it not suitable anymore for use as the family vehicle.

It keeps blowing the 7.5 amp instrument illumination - as soon as the headlights are turned on. Obviously that makes it impossible to drive at night, because the speedo, and all other gauges, are not lit up.

The central locking has a intermittent fault where it fails to open the doors other then the drivers door. More often then not, the only door that can be unlocked is the drivers door.

The boot release on the key fob doesn't work. The only way to get into the boot is with the emergency boot release behind the back seat.

If anyone could help, it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

That's a real bugger about the illumination fuse. ID first ask have you recently had anything fitted to the car lime a cd player?

The illumination wire is brown with a white line on it. If its touching metal in the car, it'll blow every time you switch on your lights.

Yes, a new stereo was fitted just prior.

We ended up taking it to an auto elec. Apparently the BCM had to be replaced, along with wiring to the actuators in the doors for the central locking. And yes, the dash lighting was caused by the new stereo install. Nearly $500 later, it's all fixed.

One in our home town of Burnie, probably a bit too far from Hobart for you, sorry mate.
